Big Nate's Question:
Im looking for a nice cheap compound hunting bow possibly under $150

carpet71101's Answer

i agree you maybe able to find a good used bow for that but not new. and yes pse sells bows at walmart for around 200 bucks and they work fine. the bow is only as quiet as you make it. i use limbsaver string leeches and spider leggs and my bow is very quiet. you get the quality you pay for but all the quality gear in the world isnt going to make you any better if you dont practice practice practice. i hunted for years with an old ben pearson bows and cheap tru flite arrows that i bought in a garage sale for $75 they worked great the key is practice

Moneysaver3's Question:
Thank you for your answers. I'm buying a used bow for my husband as a surprise and had someone tell me to make sure it didn't have this happen to it. I couldn't make sure this hadn't happened without understanding what it was...so thanks! You guys are great! Now I know better what to look for when inspecting the bow.

iliketodoit's Answer

To dry fire it is to fire it with no arrow. With no arrow there is no resistance and it can cause the bow limbs to break.

Shero M's Question:

targetbutt's Answer

Flight archery is a discipline in archery that's all about attaining distance. To get the most out of your bow, it has to be well tuned, an untuned arrow leaving the bow will flop around in the air, wasting energy. A tuned arrow, on the other hand will straighten out much faster and fly longer. The world record for unlimited compound flight bow is 1200m, that's about 3/4 of a mile. Now if you're talking about accuracy, a world class target compound shooter can put most of his arrows in the 10 ring, on a 122cm target face that's a 4.8" diameter circle from 90m/100yards. The world record for 90m compound is 348 out of 360.

  • Compound Bow FAQ

Dennis J's Question:

Maxwell Smart(ypants)'s Answer

It does not matter if you are right handed or left handed. What matters is what eye you are most dominant with. I am left handed and right eyed dominant so I have to shoot a right handed bow. How you check this is, hold both your hands out in front of you and cross them so you have a little hole between your thumbs, then focus on something that you can see through that little hole. Now close one eye, if you can still see that object that is your dominant eye. If you can't see the object then close your other eye. The one that you can still see what you were looking at is your dominant eye. That is the bow you need. If you are like me and dominant with your opposite eye, you can buy the bow for the hand you do use but you will not be as accurate as you can be.

smokey_spunk's Question:
i have a PSE fire flight compound bow, 70lb, 31 inch draw length and I want to know how to take down the punds properly

dumdum's Answer

Where the limbs are attached to the riser , there are two screws that require an Allen wrench to adjust- they are on top of the bow limbs, one on each side.- to be certain that the adjustments are the same on both sides, tighten them down until they bottom out- then make one turn counter clockwise on both sides and check it - repeat until the bow is at the poundage that you want it to be- then you will need to check it for proper tuning- take a ruler and measure from the back of the bow limb where it meets the riser and go to the bow string- the distance should be the same on both limbs- if not adjust it on one side until both sides match up and are an even distance from the string to the backside of the limb where it joins the riser- good luck
