What's the arrow speed difference between a modern compound bow and a modern recurve of the same draw weight?
ElGuapo's Question:
Has anyone run some chrono tests using a recurve and a modern compound of the same pull weight with equivalent modern arrows? They never give speed numbers for the recurves so there's no way to compare!
JASON22_250's Answer
A modern recurve is much slower, around 170-190 fps most the time.
A compound bow, with the cams and such are able to produce speeds up to 330+ fps. If you took a recuve 50lbs, I would bet around 180 feet per second
A Modrern Compound Bow, 50# witrh 28" draw, youwld be around 260 feet per second
